Road Trip up Southern Baja California
Doorways of El Triunfo
El Triunfo was once a rich gold and silver mining camp and at one time the largest settlement in Southern Baja California. The mines closed in 1926 and all that is left are abandoned buildings.
Diary: April 23, 2002

Picked up the rental car this morning. There was a little confusion so they were late bringing it. Hit the road around 11:30am. Drove to El Triunfo where I stopped to shoot pictures of the abandoned buildings. Made a quick pit stop on the outskirts of La Paz. Somewhere around El Cien, some guy in a red car, who had turned around and came back towards me, flashed his lights and was waving at me to stop. Being alone, I had no intentions of stopping and kept right on going. He turned around and came flying up behind me and passed me after riding my tail for awhile. Don't know what he wanted but was glad he pulled off at the next stop. Drove through Las Poritas and Santa Rita. Both are not much more than a few buildings....
